Snailmate’s new album Stress Sandwich, produced at Lava Lake Studios in Phoenix, AZ is all about growth. The album explores themes of vulnerability, disappointment, and accepting art-making as a beautiful yet imperfect process. The duo shares, “This album is a long time in the making, but it couldn't have been finished any sooner. We had to tour the world, live through quarantine, get our hearts broken a couple times, go to therapy, get our cats, and Bentley had to literally CHANGE GENDERS before we were ready to stick the the toothpick in this baby. Stress Sandwich has everything in it, and it is delicious!".
With the impending Stress Sandwich and a bonkers 2023 tour schedule, Snailmate is ready for their next chapter. Crafting music that is cathartic and relatable yet truly unique, Snailmate is an exciting genre-defying duo that is unlike anything you have ever heard. Truly authentic, Snailmate inspires their listeners to be unapologetic and unashamed of who they are.
Snailmate is the Phoenix-based musical duo composed of lyricist, singer and synth-wizard Kalen Lander and drummer and backup vocalist Bentley Monet. Together, the two create music that fuses synthpunk, grindcore pop, and nerd rap for an unpredictable and explosive sound. The band is known for their frenetic and impressive live shows. Performing over a thousand shows, Snailmate has cultivated a fervent fanbase that aims to be inclusive with the band priding their shows as a safe space for all genders and people of all sexualities.
Snailmate has released a full length album Love in the Microwave as well as a myriad of EPs and singles covering a wide range of genres and topics. From songs about anxiety, isolation and queer identity, to bangers about hot sauce, nostalgia, or wearing a robe. Nothing is off limits, and the two often use humor and wit to tackle dark topics, confiding, “We want you to know that you're not alone. Life is short and weird and sometimes crappy, so let's have some fun.”
