Snailmate has done it again. They’ve dropped a mind-twisting single called “Robe Guy” And it’s as weird as it is groovy AF. Somewhere between MC 900 Ft. Jesus and the Belted Sweater, this homage to becoming, well, a robe wearer (I think) should be packing dancefloors across all the lands.
“I’m new to the much respected underground sensation known as Phoenix’ Snailmate. The popsicle-armed song that sparked up this fresh relationship is called “Trash, Baby” and it’s a bombastic cranium burster that feels like MC 900 Ft. Jesus, Faith No More, and Tomahawk all mushed together into a vulnerable punk rock, groove-heavy concoction.”

“Crafting music that is cathartic and relatable yet truly unique, Snailmate is an exciting genre-defying duo that in the end is unlike anything you have ever heard.”

“This all too familiar feeling is deeply relatable and Snailmate so brilliantly shows the dangers of trying so hard to be something you are not.”

“The message of our music is that you’re not alone. If you’re feeling anxious or sad or just uncertain, we understand. We are feeling it too. Life is short and weird and sometimes crappy, so let’s have some fun.” -Snailmate

“It's Coming Back!" is an intense sonic fusion of thrash rock, hip hop and punk complete with an infectious layered screamo chorus and daring synths. Fuzzy basslines glide over intense drumming full of emotion for an enthralling must listen.”

“Under My Tree” single release
“Under My Tree" is truly a nontraditional holiday ballad as this DIY synth-pop jam would be better suited for a nightclub instead of playing at Uncle Dave's house. But that doesn't mean it's not somehow still appropriate for the season; with talk of "frozen hearts" and no gifts under the tree, it's a song that tackles the inherent loneliness and disconnect some folks experience this time of year.”

“Snailmate finds a home in the desert”
“They’ve created a unique sonic fingerprint unlike anything else. Given this desert is the homeland of the inimitable Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart, it’s no surprise they’ve found a second home in a fellow desert village.”

“Donuts in The Rain” single release
“With a crazy and psychedelic video, pumped with freakout visual jive, ‘Donuts’ is peppered with yowls, swears, and guttural growls reminiscent of something more haunting and metallic, but juxtaposed against the backdrop of pumping rock drums and bumping synths it sounds so fresh and timeless.”

“I Know What You Want” single release
“Combining a fury of well placed synth parts, dual punk and rap-oriented vocals with measures of theatrical touches, this single is equally fun as it is technical and tightly knit.”
